With her clothes stained in blood, she weakly walked to the nearest city, which was Aragon, while carrying Lee on her back.
Her blue skin wasn't covered, and she was seen when she asked an old woman where the doctor was. The old woman screamed
for the officers, so Shezara tried to run as fast as she could with Lee on her back. She was soon caught and persecuted by
officers and townspeople, who pushed her down into the snow. Lee was thrown off her back, and Shezara tried to crawl
over to him; however, people kept knocking her back. She knew that she couldn't get to him anymore, and she
could only hope that someone would help him. She fainted and was put in jail to be exocuted the next day.
Her spirits hung, and she actually thought that death would be best for her now.
The next morning,
they took her outside and prepared to execute her. Many people were outside waiting for the event to begin. Her clothes were
tattered in some places and the wounds from the battles on her back had not closed up yet. She was tied to a wooden post,
which splintered her skin. Five officers surrounded her. Four of them held guns except for the leader. Tears rolled down
her face and onto the cold snow. The leader raised his arm and the officers raised their guns to her. Right when the
leader was about to give the signal to shoot, an old man yelled for the execution to stop. He got them to stop by
telling them that Shezara saved a boy's life from a landslide, and the boy is dying and asked to see her one last time. The
officers were convinced by the tale, and since the old man was a highly respected doctor, they let Shezara go for
one day and would procede the exocution the next day.
The
old man brought her to his hospital, and there, Shezara met Lee, who was recovering. The old man told her that his name was
Dr. Vince, and he was helping Lee, who felt much better, recover. Shezara recoginized his name from before. She asked him
why he saved her, and he told her that when he was her age, he used to have a Zelian friend, who didn't want to fight, during
the war. Unfortunately, his friend was caught by the army and was put to death.
Dr. Vince helped
Shezara heal her wounds, but nothing could heal her heartaches. She stayeds with Dr. Vince and Lee until night,
and then she remembered that she only had one day of liberty. Suddenly, Sanyu and Kiora step into the hospital to see Shezara.
Even though she was a Zelian, the twins were kind to her, because she had been kind to them. They talked for a short time
and then left. Lee, who was doing much better, helped Shezara get back to the valley without being noticed, and
since Dr. Vince had tricked the officers and helped Shezara, he had to go with them also if he didn't want to lose his life.
They escaped from
Aragon without being seen. When all of them arrived at the valley, Shezara left Lee and the doctor to bury Sotarue's
body and she tried to find Dyntai's body, but couldn't find it anywhere. She stayed by the burial for hours. Lee found
her cold and lonely. Tears stained her face, and Lee comforted her and brought her back to the house where she was placed
by the fire and blanketed. Dr. Vince cooked the meals, but Shezara ate little and said little. She was extremely exhausted
from everything and couldn't sit up any longer. She closed her eyes, and right when she was about to collapse, Lee caught
her and let her sleep in his arms.
